Right in the heart of the San Juan metro area there’s a community of more than 25,000 people that work tirelessly to maintain their home. Inspired by the necessity to preserve their houses, take care of their health and maintain the strong community network, this group is united in achieving the common good. This example of collaboration and communication is unique and special to the Caño Martín Peña. Lydia Rodríguez, director of the Caño Martín Peña ENLACE Project Corporation, extends her invitation to us to help rebuild this community that has been greatly affected by hurricane María. Close to 800 families lost their rooftop or part of it and some 75 homes were completely destroyed. With the funds raised from EmbracingPuertoRico we were able to buy and donate a solar desalinization plant that purifies and cleans water for these residents. We are humbled to work and help our allies at Proyecto ENLACE del Caño Martín Peña. You can help get this community get back on its feet through embracingpuertorico.com or visit one of our branches and make a donation in the account #030 043 069.
