In 1993, as part of the celebration of the first century of service, Banco Popular began the tradition of presenting the people of Puerto Rico, during the first Sunday in December, with uplifting expressions from Puerto Rican composers and artists through a musical production. This gift, which in 2012 completed its 19th year, has counted with local and international artists such as Ricky Martin, Marc Anthony, Lucecita, Olga Tañón, Ednita Nazario, among others. These productions, which on average last an hour to an hour and a half, promote Puerto Rican and Latin culture while elevating the legacy of our artists through time.
The music specials serve as a platform to promote our traditions and to support, through the sale of pieces, the organizations, schools and communities that Fundación Banco Popular supports. The funds raised are donated to organizations that promote music education among our children and youth. Some of the schools or institutions that have benefited from the funds raised by sales are: Loaíza Cordero Institute, Puerto Rico Music Conservatory, Free School of Music of Arecibo, Hato Rey, Caguas and Carolina.
