Becas Rafael Carrión, Jr. Program

This program is the vision made reality of an outstanding man and banker. The Fund was created to financially support the children of Popular employees and retirees in their college careers. It was established in 1992 with the totality of the money that Carrión Jr. accumulated in his Deferred Compensation plan and his savings from the Banco Popular de Puerto Rico Employees' Credit Union. Carrión, Jr.’s children made the donations for this purpose after his death on December 31, 1991.

Celebrating 20 years of the Premio Excelencia Académica Rafael Carrión, Jr.

The Premio Excelencia Académica Rafael Carrión, Jr. commemorated two decades of recognizing outstanding students as they graduate from high school. The winning students achieve the highest scores in two or more tests of the Advanced Level Program (PNA in Spanish), and the College Admission Test (PAA) from The College Board in Puerto Rico and Latin America (CBPRAL). During its 20-year trajectory, this award has recognized 1,907 students , which represents an investment of $1.9 million.

We celebrate all of the students who have achieved this distinction. It fills us with pride to continue supporting new generations of young, talented, and dedicated Puerto Ricans.
